A highlight of the Club Green in 2014 -. Japanese maple
There are several things that come to mind when assessing this maple. I’m not sure of the variety, but there is a possibility that is a sub-variety. If this is the case, branching is good. It also seems that the tree could be on the young side – note that the branches are of a different color from the trunk. The roots are large, but somewhat uniform – probably the result of an air layer. The trunk is straight in and of yellowish color. If a similar tree was a white trunk with a little more movement it would be worth even more. The tree is a great example of a bonsai well done.
