approach Bay Island Bonsai exhibition this year was smaller trees – shohin, kifu and chuhin or medium sized bonsai . This meant a couple of things for members: there would be no lifting heavy trees (easy), but we would need many more trees than usual to fill the exhibition hall (complicated). In total, 114 members show BIB trees on 51 screens.

To my surprise, the setup was very good. Even with more complex displays, the exhibition was quickly arranged – enough to have time to relax a bit before calling it a night

will share the highlights of each of the three groups of size. beginning, today, with the shohin bonsai. – trees that are up to 8 “tall
