Chiharu Imai garden featured some big pine trees. Some of these were much more developed than others. Seeing the less developed trees with more mature specimens made clear how bonsai can develop and improve over time. The juxtaposition also made clear that Imai can do a great job at both ends of this spectrum.

As usual during the winter months, outdoor pines had turned yellow, while the pines kept indoors retains its green color.

Several of the younger specimens had recently been cable. And even though now they look good, they will look even better when the branch pills filled.
