Old white pine Rewiring

is not something we see every day in the United States … a meter high white pine seedlings. That is, a white pine on it’s own roots, not grafted onto black pine. Bonsai originally imported from Brussell, this pine has been gaining strength and balance each year. I think the first STYLED in 2008.

One of his few flaws is a strong right root. I’ll have to discuss this with my client, but it is possible to split and low at the same time, raise the entire half-inch tree is replanted next time. In this way I hope to expose some of the other nebari roots and make everyone more or less the same level. That makes sense? The root division will make two roots … and easier low.

Anyway, here is the tree as it looks this fall:

seedling of Japanese white pine, variety Shikoku, before rewiring in autumn 2011.

After wiring. Outbreaks continue to show some strength to not repotted for another year.
