The fifth Asia-Pacific Bonsai Friendship Federation Convention and Exhibition offered a number of trees that fell outside the stylistic standards I’m used to seeing at bonsai exhibitions. The basic approaches were familiar – wind trees and plantations group, for example -. Even though I’m not used to seeing so many in a single event
who enjoy these trees like watching leads to questions – are varieties well adapted to these styles? What styles say something about how these trees grow in nature – or they look more like the artists behind the creations? My guess is that some of the trees later take more cues from nature than others.
Here, then, are more bonsai on display at the 2015 convention and exhibition ABFF Rin Rin Park in Vietnam.

Some trees featured very ornate pots.
I like the natural deadwood support for Antidesma below.
The exhibition also included a number of plantations and rock penjing. Many, but not all, with figures.
