The last of my pines decandled this year are the smallest of the group. Giving these trees less time to recover helps keep growth in check and summer short needles. I removed all but the smallest buds of spring, and then additional needles are removed, leaving about 5 pairs in each branch.

I knew there was a lot of branches of this tree, but had no idea exactly how many. Do you have 160+ surprise? My trusty assistant broke a shot after each cut so I could string together images.
The good news is that not all branches of wire needs – I can not imagine adding 80 cables to the tree! And as the tree is young, I do not know how many branches more than I can wait before I feel the tree is “full”.
