A visit to the garden of Gordon Deeg

bonsai general - 29 views

Gordon Deeg is a familiar name for bonsai enthusiasts in northern California. He has held positions in more bonsai more organizations than I can count. A former president of the Bonsai Garden at Lake Merritt, Gordon is now your garden teacher and a teacher at his school bonsai.

Gordon is also responsible for another impressive bonsai garden – his own. I had the opportunity to visit during the annual barbecue Bonsai Kai Sei Boku and was surprised by its depth and breadth. Gordon has the usual varieties such as pine, juniper, maple and azalea, and has just as many less common varieties, including cryptomeria, Granada, estoraque and needle juniper.
